The First Nations and Métis Relations Division supports initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of these communities.
The First Nations Relations Branch builds government-to-government relationships with First Nations, which are formalized through protocol agreements that provide a framework for continued collaboration between the provincial government and First Nations in Alberta. The branch also provides advice and specialized knowledge to provincial departments, federal and municipal governments and industry, and participates in cross-ministry strategies affecting First Nations people. First Nations Relations also administers the First Nations Development Fund (FNDF) grant program, which supports First Nations’ economic, social and community development projects.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The First Nations and Métis Relations Division is looking for a Relationship Agreement Analyst for The First Nations Relations Branch.
Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Programs, the Relationship Agreement Analyst is responsible for supporting the secretariat functions that facilitate agreements between First Nations organizations and the Government of Alberta (GOA), which include cross-ministry tables of mutual concern (e.g. Health, Reconciliation, Economic Development, etc.). The scope of work includes participating in and supporting meetings/events; obtaining and writing support documents to inform discussions; engaging with other ministries and First Nations organizations to ensure the development and implementation of Workplans; and organizing annual Premier and Chiefs’ meetings.The Relationship Agreement Analyst work also includes maintaining profiles of current table information and delivering projects within the framework of the Ministry’s business and operational plans. They lead research into policy issues and provide recommendations to senior department leaders, other department branches, and other ministries.
The Relationship Agreement Analyst also oversees the administration of grants for the relationship agreements.
