Provides teller services including processing transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and cashing checks. Processes new accounts and cross-sells other need-based products and services. Utilizes knowledge and judgment to ensure the validity of transactions processed, accounts opened and refers questionable items to an Assistant Branch Manager or above. Maintain a professional appearance in both dress and behavior. Essential Functions: Customer Service * Performs Southside Bank’s customer service standards with each customer interaction. * Consistently performs with accuracy and efficiency to build customer confidence and trust. * Provides enthusiastic, professional, and courteous service to Southside Bank customers and employees. * Completes customer thank you calls and follow up of problem resolution as directed by management. * Meets or exceeds all operational and sales goals determined by retail management to include balancing, and attendance and others as applicable. * Knows the products and services offered by the Bank with the ability to recall and explain key benefits to the customer. Recognize each customer transaction as a cross-sell opportunity. Identify and respond to the needs of new and potential customer by listening and clarifying their needs. Direct customers as needed to other Southside departments. * Maintains the security and confidentiality of all sensitive Bank information. * Accurately communicates account information to customers. * Identifies and responds to the needs of new and potential customers by listening and clarifying their needs. Refers customers as needed to other Southside departments. Operational Excellence * Understands and agrees to abide by the policies and procedures established at Southside Bank. * Follows established policies and procedures to avoid fraudulent activity (verify identification, review account history and recourse, etc.). * Follows compliance procedures and verifies accuracy of reporting applicable transactions such as CTRs, SARs, monetary logs, and Reg CC holds. * Maintains cash drawer limits and responsible for meeting the balancing standards of the cash drawer on a daily basis, working in accordance with the Teller Over/Short Policies. Ensure that all cash outages are reported to management. * Accepts and verifies customer deposits. * Cash checks and process less cash transactions within authorized limits; obtain supervisor’s approval to process transactions which exceed authorized limits. * Performs special services as requested by customers, such as selling official checks, process cash advances and loan payments, completion of stop payments and cardholder claim statements and redeem savings bonds with accuracy. May include notary services and helping customers with account reconciliation and problem resolution. * Communicates disclosure requirements and regulations to customers in accordance with regulatory guidelines, provides disclosures and brochures as needed. * Continues professional development through training, seminars, membership in professional associations, as applicable. * Responsible for complying with audit policies and procedures as they pertain to this position. * Performs duties in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and related anti-money laundering laws, and in accordance with the Bank’s Information Security Program. * Must comply with all applicable laws and regulations. * Performs collection item processing such as dealer drafts and foreign items. Team Relations * Maintains a positive and caring atmosphere for customers and employees consistent with the Southside Bank’s mission, CORE Values, and Blue Book culture guide. * Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. * Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. * Contributes to a positive team environment with peers in and out of the branch. * Assists with opening and closing duties. * Performs additional duties as assigned or directed. Required Education/Experience: * High School Graduate or the equivalent required. * Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. * Minimum six month cash handling or customer service experience preferred. * Proficient in typing, 10-key calculator and data entry. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Completion and comprehension of the following Southside Bank instructor led classes within the first 6 months of employment : * New Employee Orientation * Teller Training, Teller Advanced and Professional Teller * New Accounts * Product Knowledge * Back to Basics Customer Service Physical Activity/Dexterity: * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical Environment Demands: * Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 75% of the time. * Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer, scanner, computer printer, etc. * The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the branch location to assist customer’s transactions, access different machinery, process cash, etc. * Constantly positions self to maintain computers in the branch, including under the desks or in a different area of the branch. * This person must be able to detect, recognize, and identify customers as they begin assisting them. * Must be able to transport 25 pounds of coin a distance of 5-25 feet from a work station to the vault, up to five times a day, depending on how much coin is delivered that day. * Motor branches – employee must transport the cash from work booth inside the branch. * In-store branches – employee must transport the cash from the coin machine to a bag which is moved to the vault. Working Conditions/Environment: * Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. * Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
