Description JOB DESCRIPTION-RELATIONSHIP BANKER Position Title: Relationship Banker FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Retail Banking Location: Potsdam Reports to: Branch Supervisor Supervises: None Travel: Minimal Date Last Revised: March 3, 2023 **This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. ** POSITION SUMMARY: The individual in this position will build and maintain relationships with the customer by providing a wide range of customer services such as opening new accounts, originating consumer loans, assisting in the mortgage loan process, and assisting customers with queries concerning financial institution services. This position will assist in developing and strengthening the customer experience by providing excellent customer service that is focused on innovation and adoption of digital, self-serve and interactive technologies. This position has high customer contact, and the individual is expected to be visible within the community, promoting financial products and services to new and existing customers. Essential Functions: Responsible for sharing and recommending the banks full scope of resources with customers, including traditional in branch services and digital capabilities. Take a sales-oriented approach to customer service. Effectively and efficiently provide a complete range of customer services at the financial institution, including, but not limited to, opening new accounts, interviewing personal loan applicants, and explaining available financial institution products and services. Personally, answer incoming phone calls, provide information, and answer questions related to available deposit products and loan products. Effectively cross sell our products and services. Greet customers when they enter the branch and establish a professional, friendly rapport. Evaluate customers’ financial needs and provide banking solutions. Provide ongoing banking relationships with existing customers. Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues with banking products or services. Participate regularly with community organizations and related projects. Display a consistent effort to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships. Additional duties to help support Branch Manager in day-to-day duties and during any extended absence. Occasionally, perform teller duties. Maintain knowledge of all branch policies and procedures, particularly those that affect teller line functions such as approval of checks, overrides and power of attorney. Maintain an NMLS number and solicit mortgage loans, personally interview loan applicants, and offer available options. Performance Factors: Attendance and Dependability: The employee can be depended upon to report to work at the scheduled time and strives to keep absences minimal. The employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments. Relationships with Others: The employee works effectively and relates well with others including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Bank. The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and strives to maintain constructive working relationships. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS: Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. Completion of ABA Universal Banker Certificate Completion of Digital Banker Certificate. Experience: Experience in a financial institution or retail services setting. Sales experience is beneficial. Customer service experience is expected. Skills: Basic understanding and knowledge of bank loan products and services A desire to develop and utilize cross-selling, management, and organizational skills.
