AgWest Farm Credit is a member-owned financial cooperative that provides financing and related services to farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses, commercial fishermen, timber producers, rural homeowners and crop insurance customers in a seven-state territory in the Western United States. We are in search of a Relationship Manager I or Relationship Manager II to join our Specialized Lending department in Tempe, Arizona. This full-time position reports to the Head of Country Home Lending and contributes to providing high quality, profitable and constructive credit and related services to customers.
After an initial in-office training period, this position is eligible for workplace flexibility and a one-time home office stipend. Employees are expected to continue working from their office location a minimum of 50% or 60% of the time depending on location.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Market and sell Country Home Loan (CHL) products and ensure profitability targets are met for assigned portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain an active external marketing and referral network with real estate agents, lenders, accountants, home builders and other lending and insurance staff throughout assigned territory.
  • Maintain familiarity with other AgWest products and collaborate with organization staff by making referrals and cross-selling products to meet customer needs.
  • Establish rapport with and develop and maintain confidence of customers and prospective customers.
  • Responsible for understanding internal loan pricing programs, models and tools, and communicating appropriate loan pricing information with customers.
  • Make quality credit decisions to ensure customer service, a high-quality loan portfolio and loan administration. Monitor loan performance and services of assigned accounts.
  • Gather financial information through interviews in person and by phone, reviews financial statements, legal opinions, tax records and other financial information. Comply with organization documentation expectations, procedures, laws and regulations and assist in credit investigations of applicants including public record searches, credit bureau reports, employment and income verification, collateral inspection and asset and liability verification.
  • Prepare loan application packages including credit analysis, submit recommendations for approval and participate in loan closings by ensuring the appropriate documentation is completed and understood by the customer.
  • Service assigned accounts with the objective of providing efficient customer service through proactive servicing, follow up, and timely coordination with other divisions and portfolio groups.
  • Accurately classify loans, ensuring loan data attributes such as PD, LGD, and YBS are correct.
  • Represent and communicate the values, purpose and mission of the organization to employees, customers, the public and other target audiences, by joining or actively supporting appropriate agricultural organizations, civic groups or industry groups and actively participating in sponsored events and programs.
  • Participate in assigned industry teams or industry task forces as needed. Advance industry knowledge and expertise of assigned industry teams. Assist teams with detailed industry studies and work to expand industry specific customer services and delivery systems. Assist with the organization of industry specific customer educational events.
  • Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of financial statements and analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate terms on behalf of the organization for low complexity and smaller size relationships, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to travel to perform certain required duties
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to complete all requirements for registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of AgWest CHL Relationship Manager training program or an equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Farm Credit policies and procedures, eligibility requirements and products.
  • Understanding of the local agricultural markets.
  • Ability to market, sell, and effectively negotiate terms on behalf of AgWest, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of agricultural practices and crop and livestock production.
  • Working knowledge of banking, mortgage, consumer credit regulations and laws, including legal terminology (e.g. zoning ordinances, Truth in Lending, RESPA etc.)
