Description

About the job

We’re looking for a Relationship Manager to join our client, a leading high street bank's SME Business Banking team, supporting ambitious businesses across Norfolk, Suffolk and North Essex.

Your portfolio and primary area of focus will be defined by your location, but you’ll need to be comfortable supporting clients across the wider patch when required.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced banking professional or a high-potential early-career candidate, who is passionate about working with business owners, building relationships and helping SMEs achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage trusted relationships with established SME clients.
  • Understand their ambitions and provide tailored banking and lending solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing relationships and develop new business.
  • Build strong networks across the local business community and with professional introducers.
  • Work closely with specialist teams to deliver the right solutions for clients.
  • Balance great customer outcomes with sound commercial and risk management.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the local market and become a trusted partner to businesses in your area.

Qualifications

We’re open to different backgrounds. You could be an experienced Business or Corporate Banking Relationship Manager, or come from Premier or Private Banking with strong lending experience.

We’re also keen to hear from high-potential graduates and early-career candidates with a genuine passion for supporting SMEs. You don’t need direct SME Banking experience, we can provide the development and support to help you build your expertise. For candidates moving from Retail Banking, lending experience and a strong commercial focus will be important.

Required Skills

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Commercial curiosity and a genuine interest in businesses.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and develop relationships.
  • An understanding of lending and risk, or the aptitude to develop this.
  • A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across Norfolk, Suffolk and North Essex.

Preferred Skills

Above all, you’ll bring:

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Commercial curiosity and a genuine interest in businesses.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and develop relationships.
  • An understanding of lending and risk, or the aptitude to develop this.
  • A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across Norfolk, Suffolk and North Essex.

Pay range and compensation package

Why join? You’ll have the opportunity to build a career supporting some of the region’s most ambitious businesses, with a portfolio shaped around where you’re based and the local businesses you serve.
