Responsibilities
The Relationship Management role is responsible for new business development by acquiring and growing client relationships with early and growth stage startups, investors, and ecosystem partners. This role involves nurturing relationships within the C-suite by offering strategic consultations on business priorities and capital planning. A key responsibility is originating and negotiating financing solutions for SVB commercial bank clients. To address client business and personal needs, the role emphasizes cross-selling the entire SVB platform including treasury management, embedded payments, and the private bank. Collaboration with cross-functional SVB teams is encouraged to provide a cohesive client experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for relationship management of commercial bank clients in the Fintech sector, and delivery of core commercial banking products (i.e. debt financing, treasury management, FX, investments, etc.) and broader bank financial services (i.e. private bank, wealth advisory, etc.).
  • Advising on, originating, and negotiating financing solutions for Commercial Bank clients.
  • Provides support to MDs and Directors on strategic relationships, as well as individually develops relationships with executives, and investors in the ecosystems.
  • New business development and expansion of existing relationships, as well as originating, advising on, and negotiating financing solutions for early-mid stage fintech commercial bank clients.
  • Developing an understanding of the client’s needs and cross selling SVB’s suite of products and services at the appropriate points in the lifecycle of the business.
  • Represent SVB at events in market.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of Banking or Relationship Management OR High School or GED plus 6 years of Banking or Relationship Management experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 years of of related experience and a network in the tech startup ecosystem, preferably in the New York Fintech ecosystem.
  • Prior experience in a lending or investing capacity to venture backed technology companies or operating experience with a Fintech company or at a larger Financial Institution.
  • Strong relationship management, negotiation, and marketing skills.
  • Strong ownership of the overall client experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain a network of business relationships, including the executive management of clients, prospects, and other referral sources.
  • Knowledge of bank operations and products a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
    The base pay for this position is generally between $125,000 - $180,000 per year. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
