ABOUT THE ROLE

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Release Manager to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully remote role.
The Release Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire release management process, which includes planning, coordinating, and managing releases across the organisation for various applications. This role involves coordinating different teams, tracking progress, managing risks, and resolving conflicts to ensure successful product releases. The goal is to ensure that software and applications are delivered on time and with high quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement release management processes across all digital programs
  • Maintain and establish standards for release management in digital services
  • Design, document, automate, and maintain configuration management processes (including build, release, version control, branching, and merging)
  • Enhance delivery capabilities and improve release management processes to create a reliable, standardised, high-quality release management function
  • Collaborate with developers, test automation and application configuration specialists, release management, business leads, and cloud engineers
  • Work with teams to resolve any bottlenecks or conflicts that could delay releases
  • Ensure all deliverables meet defined quality standards, documentation is complete, and teams are prepared for the release
  • Manage project-specific software configuration and commonality between program configurations to limit software variants
  • Prepare technical documentation and diagrams to define the configuration and topology of deployed applications
  • Analyse and manage dependencies across teams, systems, and third-party integrations to ensure smooth releases
  • Act as a liaison between development, testing, operations, and business teams to ensure alignment on release objectives
  • Engage with stakeholders to prioritise releases and provide regular updates on release progress, risks, and readiness
