Description
American Chrome & Chemicals is seeking an experienced Mechanical Reliability Engineer to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and ensure safe, reliable plant operations at our Castle Hayne, NC plant. In this role, you will analyze equipment failures, lead root cause investigations, support capital projects, and develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. You’ll partner closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement in reliability, safety, and lifecycle cost optimization. Key Responsibilities * Lead and participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and process upsets, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence * Support mid-size capital projects, providing input on scope, engineering design, and reliability improvements * Analyze production loss and failure data using statistical tools to identify improvement opportunities * Develop, manage, and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs * Support plant operations during troubleshooting, repairs, and major turnarounds * Coordinate engineering, construction, and repair activities for plant modifications * Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to design and implement reliability improvements * Manage reliability project development, design, and installation * Ensure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and mechanical integrity requirements * Promote a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, following procedures, and stopping unsafe work Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field * 5+ years of experience in Maintenance/Reliability Engineering within chemical, refinery, pulp & paper, or similar PSM-regulated plants * Strong knowledge of CMMS systems and preventive/predictive maintenance programs * Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards or SAP preferred) * Hands-on experience with plant equipment such as: * Reactors, mixing vessels, dryers, agitators * Pumps (centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, positive displacement) * Mechanical seals, compressors, motors, blowers, centrifuges * Piping systems and pressure equipment * Familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, etc.) * Experience supporting mechanical integrity programs for tanks, pressure vessels, and piping * Experience with AutoCAD * Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship Preferred Experience * Solids handling and material separation processes * Reliability data analysis and statistical modeling tools Core Competencies * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment * Self-directed with minimal supervision * Collaborative team player across departments and functions Why Join Us? * Impact plant performance and safety directly * Work on capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives * Collaborate in a technically challenging manufacturing environment * Long-term stability in a regulated, essential industry Benefits: * 401(k) matching * Dental insurance * Vision insurance * Employee assistance program * Flexible spending account * Health insurance * Health savings account * Life insurance * Paid time off * STD/LTD * Safety equipment provided
