JOB DESCRIPTION

BAE Systems is seeking an outstanding engineer or recent engineering graduate for an opportunity to support the U.S. Air Force’s (USAF) development and acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) – the Sentinel.
The engineer will support the Specialty Engineering Team and Sentinel Weapon System development with a willingness to learn and understand the main charters of Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) engineering; the goal being to ensure that these critical attributes are incorporated early in the design phase.

The candidate will learn about (or already have a working knowledge) of:

  • Reliability engineering principles and methodologies, such as FMECA, fault tree analysis, and reliability block diagrams, to identify and mitigate potential failures
  • Developing and executing reliability test plans and procedures to identify and prioritize potential failure modes
  • Analyze data from various sources, including test results, field returns, and customer feedback, to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Collaborating with design engineers to develop and implement design for reliability (DFR) principles and guidelines
  • Developing and maintaining reliability models and simulations to predict product performance and identify potential failure modes
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality engineering
  • Developing and presenting technical reports and recommendations to stakeholders, including management and customers
  • Failure Review Boards (FRB) process and requirements
  • Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Data Collection Analysis and Corrective Action System (DCACAS)

As a BAE team member, you are part of an Integrated Support Contract, meaning, that BAE assists and advises the USAF with technical expertise to manage the prime contractor in developing the new weapon system. This position will entail reviewing prime contractor technical documentation, specifications, and design drawings, participation in technical reviews, and providing sound advice/suggestions within this field to the Government customer. As part of the Systems Engineering and Integration Team, the job coordinates RAM requirements with other specialty engineering disciplines to achieve total system integration.
The successful candidate will be energetic, collaborative, self-motivated, and have the desire to make a difference.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • B.S. degree in a STEM field (Aero/Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering or Mathematics/Physics)
  • 0-2 years of experience in reliability engineering or a related field
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • B.S./M.S. in Systems/Reliability Engineering
  • Current Secret clearance
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization tools, such as Excel, Minitab, or R
  • Experience with reliability modeling and simulation tools, such as Reliasoft or MATLAB, is a plus
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with Cameo, DOORS, and/or Jira
  • Experience with DOD acquisition
