Description
This position is responsible for analyzing and reporting the health condition of rotating process equipment to proactively identify component, equipment, and system issues before failure occurs. The role utilizes predictive maintenance techniques, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and other condition monitoring technologies, to enhance equipment reliability and performance. Additionally, the position is accountable for developing, implementing, and optimizing reliability and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure asset reliability, improve equipment availability, minimize unplanned downtime, and optimize lifecycle costs. Responsibilities: Mandatory objectives (Applied for all employees): Implement and comply with Occupational Health Safety & Environment (OHSE) Policy, Quality & Environmental Management System, BSL Policy, Code of Conduct (How We Work), Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) and Government Regulations. Develop Reliability Strategy; Develop and implement asset reliability programs (RCM, PM Optimization, CBM, PdM), Establish criticality ranking for plant equipment Condition Monitoring & Predictive Maintenance; Lead predictive maintenance programs: Vibration analysis, Oil analysis, Thermography, Ultrasound. Review and interpret condition data of rotating equipment: Compressors, Turbines, Pumps, Gearboxes, Motors, Develop data collection routes and monitoring standards Establish criticality ranking for plant equipment Predictive program and condition monitoring administration for the following but not limited to: Rotating equipment such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, turbines, blowers, pumps, gearboxes, and motors Review and monitoring of rotating equipment condition including vibration data, lube oil results and critical operating process data such as pressures, temperatures, flows, loads & efficiencies Provide remote troubleshooting support to field technicians to resolve data collector issues Provide vibration data collection training to new employees Determines vibration point locations and develops data collection routes for new and existing equipment Hands on target pointing and installation of vibration systems on rotating equipment Field diagnostics and troubleshooting Report equipment deficiencies in a CMMS program (Work order Input, etc.). Consults with Site Maintenance Team on recommended corrective actions Collaborates with responsible Operations and Maintenance Personnel, and Maintenance Planners to prioritize repairs of identified equipment deficiencies RCA participation – provides relevant vibration and oil analysis history to support root cause analysis efforts Qualification and/or experience required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in rotating equipment, mechanical maintenance, or reliability engineering within an industrial manufacturing environment; or Non-degreed candidate with a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in rotating equipment maintenance in an industrial manufacturing environment. Entry-level knowledge of oil analysis techniques. Knowledge of preventive maintenance requirements for rotating equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in vibration data acquisition systems, diagnostic tools, and related software applications. Proven ability to analyze and interpret vibration and oil analysis data. Experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment such as centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, turbines, gearboxes, rotary blowers, pumps, chillers, and motors. Knowledge of rotating equipment fundamentals, including assembly fits and tolerances. Strong computer proficiency, including MS Office, email systems, and CMMS platforms. Good verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualification and/or experience required: Level I, II, or III certification in vibration analysis Bachelor’s Degree – Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology Level II certification in vibration analysis Experience utilizing Emerson/ CSI MHM software and associated data collectors Experience specifying vibration systems including transmitters, probes, accelerometers, and the associated hardware Experience in shop and field balancing of rotating equipment Experience in CMMS systems such as Infor EAM Experience in Asset Intelligence, machine learning and pyhton program At NS BlueScope our success comes from our people.
