What to Expect
The Tesla team is looking for a Reliability Engineer passionate about our mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy. You will support validation of our world class products, perform failure analysis, iterate product and test designs, and push the boundaries of our products functionality and reliability. This work requires you to be extremely detail oriented, hold your work to the highest quality standards, and have the engineering drive to perpetually innovate. Our team’s passion drives us to succeed, you must be self-motivated, eager for change, and thrive in ambiguity. Testing requires collaboration with many engineering teams, reliability, design, integration etc. a team player mentality and exceptional communication is essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Convert problem statements to specification requirements
  • Energy & charging product test validation & data analysis which includes Supercharging, PVI, Power electronics, solar products
  • Support product safety testing, troubleshooting and bug fixing· Monitor Laboratory and test equipment performance to quickly detect and fix issues
  • Collaboration with the Product Compliance and Product Design teams to design and perform validation testing
  • Work with Tesla cross functional Teams (ME, EE, SW and FW teams)
  • Lead and direct a small team of Quality Lab Technicians
  • Design and execute reliability testing protocols, including stress testing, life cycle testing, and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Develop and maintain reliability models, metrics, and dashboards to monitor system performance and predict potential issues

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with a multitude of laboratory test equipment and data acquisition tools ranging from oscilloscopes, power analyzers to high power AC amplifiers
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, low and high voltage power electronic systems
  • Proven track record in renewable product testing for Compliance or Validation
  • 3 Years’ experience in a laboratory testing environment
  • High voltage/power experience
  • Required to lead and support 5S activities to ensure that workplace is organized, equipment spares are properly maintained and material flows through the lab in an efficient manner
