Boeing Defense, Space, & Security (BDS) is seeking a motivated and talented Reliability, Maintainability & System Health Engineer (Experienced/Senior) to join the Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) team located in El Segundo, CA.
The successful candidate should be a self-starter and systems thinker that will support the design and analysis of state-of-the-art space vehicles. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Active U.S. Security Clearance
  • Previous experience in the defense, space or aerospace industry
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering
  • Experience on proposals and writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
  • Experience developing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)/Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) using Government and industry methods
  • Experience performing Electrical Stress Derating analyses and Reliability Failure Predictions using Government and industry methods such as Mil-HDBK-217.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, program leadership and peers. Typical tasks of a Reliability, Maintainability & System Health Engineer include the following:

  • Perform component, unit and system level Reliability analyses such as failure rate models and stress derating of electronic systems.
  • Allocate and predict failure rates (Mean Time Between Failure) for components and systems and measure against program requirements.
  • Develop Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) to represent the relationship between components of a system and asses overall system reliability.
  • Performs Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate risk of system failure and support proposed changes in design.
  • Assess Fault Detection and Fault Isolation metrics for Availability impacts and concerns.
  • Actively participates on design teams, provides guidance and recommendations to designers and management to ensure reliability objectives are met.
  • Interfaces with the customer and management at major design reviews to provide reliability findings and recommendations.
