POSITION SUMMARY:

The St. Paul Park Refinery has an opening for a Laboratory Technician. This position is full-time, non-exempt, and part of the union. The work schedule follows a 12-hour rotating pattern on days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may also be required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science equivalent with four college chemistry courses and two college chemistry labs is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
  • Strong analytical chemistry skills with emphasis on modern instrumental analysis (GC, UV/Vis, NIR, IC, DSR).
  • Working knowledge and application of wet chemistry.
  • Ability to follow procedures outlined by ASTM, AASHTO, EPA, and UOP.
  • Extensive experience utilizing PCs and MS Office Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work 12hr. rotating shifts (both days and nights).
  • A valid Driver’s License is required.
  • A Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) is required upon hire.
  • Two years of experience with laboratories in an industrial setting is preferred.
  • Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) experience is preferred.
