City: Toronto - Relief Special Needs Support Staff
Hourly Wage: $21.67 * plus hourly Provincial Wage Enhancement if applicable* Compensation rates are increased for RECE candidates
Please Note: All candidates must be available a minimum 3 afternoons Monday to Friday in order to be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth, Developmental Support, Educational Assistant, Recreation and Leisure and/or training in the fields of psychology and experience working with children with differing abilities or diagnosis.
  • Excellent written and verbal English Skills
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Supervisory experience an asset
  • Well-developed problem solving skills
  • Flexible and energetic approach to work
  • Positive and sensitive attitude towards children and staff
  • Physically able to participate with children in the gym, outdoors and provide personal care as required
  • Valid Standard First Aid, with level C CPR
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check, dated within the last six months
  • Up to date immunization records
  • Basic ability to use technology (including smart phones, computers, tablets)
Responsibilities
  • Successful candidates will assist in establishing and maintaining a safe, warm, and caring environment in which a high quality child care program can operate.
  • Visits programs and work with children and staff where children require support to be integrated into the program.
  • Works with children on an individual basis, to assist them in managing their behavior and promoting their self-esteem while gaining acceptance of their peers.
  • Staff are required to attend meetings and training sessions during the day.
