Description The Catholic middle school religion teacher serves as a ministerial and academic leader responsible for the spiritual, intellectual, and moral formation of students in grades 6–8. Beyond standard classroom duties, the role involves witnessing the tenets of the Catholic faith and integrating Gospel values across all aspects of student life. Requirements Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum: Design and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons rooted in Catholic doctrine, Sacred Scripture, and the Sacraments. Faith Formation: Foster a classroom culture centered on prayer, service, and moral development. This often includes preparing students for the Sacrament of Confirmation and leading grade-level retreats. Liturgical Leadership: Plan and participate in school-wide religious activities, such as weekly school Masses, prayer services, and liturgical ceremonies (e.g., May Crowning). Modeling Values: Serve as a professional and personal role model of Christian living, adhering to the teachings and moral policies of the Roman Catholic Church. Student Support: Address the unique social-emotional development of middle school adolescents while maintaining a structured and safe learning environment. Collaboration: Partner with school administration, clergy, and families to support the spiritual life of the school community. Requirements Faith : Candidates need to be practicing Catholics in good standing who are committed to modeling the faith. Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field . Certification: State teaching certification or licensure (active or eligible to obtain). Catechist Certification or ongoing religious formation as required by the local diocese. Skills: Proficiency in educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, SMARTboards), strong classroom management, and effective communication with parents and staff Pay Range $40,000-$55,000 depending upon experience Summary of Benefits
