ABOUT THE ROLE: RELIGIOUS STUDIES TEACHER

Activate Learning is seeking a passionate and dedicated Religious Studies Teacher to join our academic team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support students through high-quality teaching, curriculum development, and learner engagement.
This is a Fixed-term permanent, part-time role working 7.4 hours (0.20 FTE) per week at our City of Oxford College Campus.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE?

Successful candidates will have a degree or above qualification in religious studies or a related subject area. Whilst we would prefer applications from qualified teachers who hold a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, we would consider applications from unqualified applicants, with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to complete a teaching qualification.
In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will have an open mindset and attitude towards technology and virtual learning tools. Along with current Maths and English skills, you will also demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive Religious Studies lessons to a range of learners
  • Act as a course tutor, supporting students’ academic progress, attendance, and personal development
  • Plan, assess, and evaluate learning in line with college standards and curriculum requirements
  • Participate in curriculum development and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate records including schemes of work, lesson plans, and student data
  • Support student recruitment and attend open days, careers events, and other promotional activities
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and quality assurance procedures
  • Accompany students on educational visits and enrichment activities
