Job Title: Remote Intervention Specialist
Location: Remote (Must be licensed in Ohio)

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a licensed Remote Intervention Specialist to deliver high-quality special education services to K12 students in a virtual setting. The ideal candidate will hold an appropriate Ohio Department of Education Intervention Specialist license and have a strong background in providing academic, behavioral, and functional support to students with disabilities in compliance with IDEA and Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education Intervention Specialist license (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or K12, depending on assignment).
  • Knowledge of Ohio special education law, IEP compliance, and evaluation processes.
  • Experience providing virtual or hybrid special education services is preferred.
  • Proficiency with technology, online learning platforms, and remote assessment tools.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a digital work environment.
  • Ability to maintain a confidential, distraction-free home workspace that complies with FERPA and HIPAA standards.
Responsibilities
  • Provide specially designed instruction to students with IEPs through virtual platforms, in alignment with their individualized goals and learning needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
  • Conduct virtual assessments and progress monitoring to evaluate student performance and inform instructional planning.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, ETR (Evaluation Team Report) processes, and other special education-related meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, communication, data collection, and compliance logs in accordance with district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with general education staff to ensure inclusion and access to the general curriculum through accommodations and co-teaching strategies.
  • Provide support and training to families and caregivers to help them navigate remote learning tools and reinforce learning at home.
  • Utilize digital tools (e.g., Google Classroom, Zoom, Seesaw, or other LMS) to facilitate instruction, engagement, and communication with students and teams.
  • Assist with behavioral support planning, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) remotely.
  • Remain current with best practices in virtual instruction, special education compliance, and professional development requirements.
