Description

VITO develops technology to facilitate the transition to a more sustainable society and economy. We work on three impact domains:

  • Regenerative economy
  • Resilient ecosystems
  • Healthy living environment

JOIN A PIONEERING TEAM USING REMOTE SENSING TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE.

One of the key technologies applied in this context is Remote Sensing. The Environmental Intelligence Unit of VITO has a long tradition in Remote Sensing, which has never been more innovative & fascinating than today. With the increasing number of satellites, drones, processing facilities and technologies like artificial intelligence, the opportunities with remote sensing are larger than ever.
Meanwhile the Remote Sensing team of VITO counts more than 120 motivated scientists, IT engineers and project managers. Within the Agriculture team we create research outcomes on productivity, drought, crop classification and plant traits. Working on in-situ data, capacity building, AI-frameworks and validation all the same.
To strengthen our growing team, we’re looking for a Researcher Plant Traits who’s ready to make a difference in sustainable agriculture.
As a Researcher Plant Traits, you will explore how EO images can be utilized to gather data on plant health, phenology, and pathology. You will develop models that extend beyond academic research, creating applications for farmers, agro-industry, institutions, and policymakers. Your focus will be on TRL 4 to 6 research, but promising outcomes will also be prototyped and validated in a relevant environment. Scientific results will need to be published in academic journals, and an active representation at scientific conferences will be expected. You will work collaboratively with fellow researchers who will support and challenge your ideas.
