REMOTE TECHNICIAN

Our Client provide remote diagnostic solutions and services to the automotive industry. They offer cutting-edge, expert diagnostics using both after-market and original equipment manufacturer tools to provide safe and accurate repairs.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

As a key member of the diagnostic team, the Remote Technician will remotely diagnose, calibrate, program new modules, and recommend repairs for vehicles involved in collisions. The successful candidate will collaborate with the shop(s) to perform diagnostic scans and assist in diagnosing, calibrating, programming new modules, and recommending repairs using the asTech® device. Our technicians use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) scan tools, OEM workshop manuals, and online resources to support automotive diagnostics and repairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of car dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive Technician
  • OEM scan tool and/or aftermarket scan tool experience and knowledge
  • Proficient in identification of faults codes, error messages and modules
  • Strong automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience
  • Must have company designated certifications or obtain within 6 months: IMI AOM230, IMI Level 2&3 in electric/hybrid vehicle maintenance.
  • Current, valid driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office and web application software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New car dealership experience is considered a plus
  • Self-motivated, high energy and a customer-focused perspective
  • In depth understanding of automotive industry and various manufacturer acronyms and jargon
  • Proficient in customer service / reporting
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Learn processes, design process flows, train and educate both internal and external clients on the processes and ensure the adoption of new procedures.
  • Serve as primary client contact as needed within the service process.
  • Proficient in identification of faults, error messages, module corrections, etc.
  • Perform all necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Quickly learn how to evaluate information and data and provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information.
  • Perform customer service / reporting.
  • Collaboration with team members to develop solutions.
  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to mechanical individuals which may include employees, clients on a daily and consistent basis.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in e-learning training sessions to stay well-informed with rapidly changing automotive technology.
  • Assist fellow technicians in performing technical evaluations, in Peterlee office location.
  • Flexibility is a must as change will be constant – i.e. shifts.
  • Keep team management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
  • Adhere to all company policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules.
