SUMMARY: The Rendering/Waster Water Trainer is responsible for coordinating and delivering rendering and wastewater training activities (operations and authorized safety, maintenance) in a timely and engaging manner. The Trainer is responsible for teaching the importance and step-by-step process of collecting waste materials (animal carcass remains and non-consumables) from the production floors for byproduct recycling. The trainer will instruct on how to prepare the byproducts for conversation into usable goods such as bone meal, choice white grease, alternative fuel and all maintenance training. Responsibilities include planning, leading, directing, and training operators, along with monitoring and trouble shooting and job training assessments. The position will also be responsible for developing and continuously improving the content of STF’s rendering and wastewater training, SOPs, authorized training, mechanical training and hands on demonstrational training, PMs, and the start-up and shut-down processes.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.    * Coordinate and execute the training activities of personnel in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws and maintaining compliance with required refresher training for rendering operations.  * Responsible for training employees in inspecting products to verify conformance to specifications and teaching set-up and adjustments of machines.  * Responsible for practicing according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), federal food safety regulations and all company policies.  * Plan and organize training schedules for the timely completion of all training.  * Organize and facilitate job training activities for all rendering operators.  * Develop a collaborative relationship with all departments.  * Coordinate all work processes with other internal departments of the company.  * Comply with all plant policies and the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) rules while conducting maintenance processes.  * Maintain and continuously improve an effective and efficient rendering operations training program.  Develop a competent workforce by utilizing hands-on training methods in the work area focusing on effective operations of rendering equipment.  * Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures that comply with applicable laws.  * Maintain an effective safety awareness program including regular departmental safety meetings.    * Maintain accurate training records of employee training hours, when necessary, take action to correct in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.  * Responsibilities include training employees, planning, directing and assigning on the job training, rewarding and counseling employees when necessary to maintain a high standard of employee relations.  * Continuously expanding upon and improving renderings standard operating procedures (SOPs). Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department and team.   * Accurately manage time and training records.  * Conduct high level of cleanliness techniques.   * Must be or able to successfully complete STF’s training and become certified in LOTO, PIT, Fall Protection, Confined Space, etc.   * Ability to work in an environment with a pungent odor (waste material/ blood/ carcass remains)  * Ability to work in an environment with a temperature range from 100 degrees to -20 degrees.   * Other duties may be assigned by the manager.    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements perform the essential functions.    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have a High School Diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution with 3-5 years of rendering and wastewater experience. Must have a mechanical aptitude.     COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.  Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.  Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as training procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Must be able to effectively communicate with USDA, production and management personnel.    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.     REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs (specifically that are or will be made available.  Must have experience and be proficient in ASCADA rendering systems. Must have strong organizational skills and professional courage. Must be proficient in MP2.  Must have experience with electrical systems, including PLC controls; hydraulic and pneumatic systems; welding/fabrication skills.    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak; hear taste and smell.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Individual must be able to effectively work in a normal production environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary.     NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and, generally as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.      WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold/hot and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hot temperature and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.
