Description

PPI is seeking an inspector to oversee the correction works on harmonic filters for the onshore substation. The inspector will be located at the supplier Gino in Bonn. This role is essential to ensure that coating and metallurgical quality standards are met, in line with the Employer’s Requirements and project contractual obligations.

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Coating Expertise: Proven knowledge and experience in industrial coating inspection, surface preparation, and quality control standards.
  • Metallurgical Expertise: Strong understanding of materials behavior, corrosion protection, and metallurgical testing related to harmonic filters.
  • Harmonic Filters: Familiarity with the manufacturing and correction processes of harmonic filters (preferred).

QUALIFICATION:

  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., coatings inspector certification such as FROSIO or NACE, metallurgical or materials engineering background).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in coating inspection, metallurgy, or related fields within energy, power, or heavy industry projects.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with contractors and project teams.
  • Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and use of digital inspection tools.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards, specifications, and non-conformance management.
  • Ability to work independently, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and quality assurance.
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are an advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the quality control of works related to the harmonic filters at the supplier site.
  • Ensure Employer’s Requirements are properly implemented by the contractor.
  • Liaise with contractors and supplier representatives at the manufacturing facilities in Bonn and others
  • Ensure competent surveillance of manufacturing activities across the relevant scope.
  • Document work progress, inspections, and non-conformities in client’s Quality Inspection App.
  • Attend and contribute to site quality meetings, ensuring appropriate representation of coating and metallurgical expertise.
  • Carry out daily monitoring of workmanship quality and provide timely reporting.
  • Lead day-to-day QC activities, including notifications, inspection points, and closure of open points.
  • Review inspection reports and ensure their timely upload to the Project EDMS.
  • Escalate quality issues promptly to the Project Quality Engineer.
  • Attend daily and weekly quality meetings as required.
  • Perform all duties in a professional manner consistent with the client Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Team to ensure quality management in accordance with contractual requirements, specifications, standards, and norms.
  • Report any issues potentially requiring a Non-Conformance Report (NCR).
  • Ensure NCRs are properly tracked, rectified, and auditable.
  • Monitor and ensure housekeeping and fabrication site controls are sufficient to achieve quality results.
  • Expedite required quality documentation by liaising directly with site personnel as requested by the Project Team.
  • Provide a weekly report summarizing activities, inspections, and findings.
