Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

SLD Pumps & Power, part of Carrier, is looking for an Apprentice Service Engineer in Paisley, Scotland. If you have a passion for mechanics, problem-solving, and working with power and pump equipment, this is your chance to learn from the best. You’ll receive training and mentorship to develop skills in servicing, maintaining, and repairing industrial pumps and power generation equipment. Working both in our Paisley workshop and on customer sites, you’ll gain practical experience while ensuring our equipment runs at peak performance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Learn how to service, maintain, and repair pumps, generators, and diesel-powered equipment in the workshop and on customer sites.
  • Gain experience inspecting, refurbishing, and preparing equipment.
  • Develop skills in diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
  • Work with engines, motors, control panels, and pipework, learning from experienced engineers.
  • Assist with installing and setting up equipment for customers.
  • Learn to use tools safely and correctly, building confidence in practical skills.
  • Follow Health & Safety guidelines and help keep the workshop organised.
  • Assist with service reports and learn the paperwork side of engineering.
  • Understand environmental best practices when handling fuels and lubricants.
