Position Overview
The Ministry of the Attorney General is seeking a Report Developer to support BI reporting enablement activities. The role involves working closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and technical teams to design, develop, and deliver high-quality reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that support business decision-making.
This role will require strong hands-on technical expertise in Power BI, SQL, DAX, ETL tools, and data modelling methodologies, as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues, analyze data, and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in requirements gathering sessions to understand business and technical needs.
  • Assess requirements and define approach in collaboration with project team and stakeholders to deliver effective BI solutions.
  • Perform data modelling and build data processing pipelines to feed repositories/warehouses using Azure Data Factory, Data Bricks, and IBM InfoSphere DataStage.
  • Design, develop, and deploy Power BI Desktop reports, dashboards, and paginated reports (Power BI Report Builder).
  • Write and optimize SQL queries (T-SQL, PL-SQL) and DAX expressions to implement business logic.
  • Perform data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure report accuracy and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure reports, dashboards, and visualizations comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.
  • Provide technical documentation, including knowledge transfer materials, migration support documentation, and report/dashboard specifications (PBIX files).
  • Actively contribute to team meetings, share progress, identify risks/issues, and provide technical explanations to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer activities through 1:1 sessions, team meetings, and documentation on SharePoint.

Deliverables

  • Application design and technical specification documentation.
  • Reports, dashboards, and visualizations aligned with business needs.
  • Knowledge transfer documentation (including scripts, codes, PBIX files, lessons learned, and best practices).
  • Migration support documentation and QA-compliant deliverables.

Required Skills & Experience (Must Haves)

  • Power BI Desktop & Paginated Report Builder – minimum 2 years.
  • SQL query languages (T-SQL, PL-SQL) – minimum 4 years.
  • DAX programming – minimum 2 years.
  • ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, Data Bricks, IBM InfoSphere DataStage) – minimum 2 years.
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling methodologies.

Additional Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience working in BI environments developing and delivering analytical reports and dashboards.
  • Troubleshooting BI reports, dashboards, and SQL queries to resolve performance/data quality issues.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SSDT or equivalent ETL development tools.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to document and transfer knowledge effectively to team members.

Evaluation Criteria

CRITERIA 1: TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • SQL query expertise (T-SQL/PL-SQL).

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: From $50.00 per hour
