Responsibilities Own and proactively evaluate, negotiate and resolve auto injury claims including time limit policy demand losses, in various stages of the claim, from represented matters through litigation. (extensive litigation handling experience a plus) Able to easily comprehend and apply policy language provisions, conditions and exclusions, incorporating knowledge of applicable state laws, judicial decisions and regulations Responsible for an inventory of primarily attorney represented claims Able to identify high-risk matters, keep appropriate suspense, and take action to reduce unnecessary legal or monetary exposure Draft coverage position letters, denials or correspondence as needed Minimize claim costs and expenses to the extent possible Able to work across teams in the claim department to collaborate and mentor personnel on coverage and liability concepts, driving accurate and timely decisions and settlement amounts Identify process improvements to optimize business outcomes and increase efficiency Assist in responding to attorney, regulatory, produce, vendor, and consumer inquiries Requirements Minimum 5 years auto insurance casualty claim experience (10+ preferred) Bachelor’s degree preferred Advanced knowledge and proven success in the resolution of complex, severe-injury claims Non-standard auto insurance experience preferred but not required Proficient and effective negotiation skills on complex claims Attention to detail producing high quality work product Able to critically think and offer practical solutions Strong coverage and liability analysis skills Knowledge of state regulations relative to claim practices Ability to solve problems and find solutions expeditiously Understand concepts of court processes Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficiency with technology, primarily Microsoft Office – Word and Excel Benefits AFIC offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package to support you Competitive Salary: Rewarding your expertise and experience Financial Security: 401K with up to a 6% company match Health & Wellness: Choice of Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, HMO, or HSA plans, Dental and vision coverage, Access to telemedicine services Growth/Stability: Over 12 consecutive years of profitable growth, confirmed by A+ Superior rating by A.M.
