Description

OVERVIEW

To apply the current techniques and knowledge for decontamination, processing and sterilization of equipment, supplies used in Endoscopy/Urology/Minor Surgery and Clinics (OPU M2). The Reprocessing Technician is also responsible for selected duties related to maintenance of a safe and clean workenvironment for selected duties as they relate to patient care and is responsible for specific equipment and supplies in the patient care area.

EDUCATION

  • Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of MDRD certification from an accredited college (completion of program within the last 2 years) required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years recent work experience within related field required.
  • Recent experience in a sterile processing area required.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal skills and team building skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment required.

  • Physical demands: ability to assist with transportation of equipment - pushing/pulling of equipment carts ability to stand/walk for long period of time.

  • Assists with maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the unit.

  • Adheres to the principles of asepsis.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Must be willing to work in all areas of the Health Service (skills and abilities considered).
  • Good work and attendance record is required.
