SUMMARY

The Research Analyst is responsible for providing research and analysis for the College to support student success and other institutional strategic decisions, for advancing the College business intelligence environment, for leading the use of national survey results college-wide, and for assisting in the tracking of College process improvements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Significant related experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in extracting data from databases, conducting research, and preparing analyses

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of basic statistics, computer software and information storage systems
  • Proficiency in data query methods and ability to perform detailed analyses
  • Possess technical skills to synthesize and transform data to produce quality analyses, reports and executive summaries
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and manage detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Proven ability to exercise critical judgment, problem solving, and creativity in designing reports and analytic solutions
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to relate and work collaboratively with individuals at all levels
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Master’s Degree

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Experience with relational databases, database software (SQL, Access), query/report building tools, and business intelligence tools
  • Experience defining and developing metrics for strategic planning, process management and other continuous improvement efforts
  • Experience developing Microsoft Power BI dashboards
  • Experience or coursework in statistics and/or research planning, design and methodology
  • Direct experience providing strategic analysis/institutional research for higher education organizations
  • Experience with Banner (Ellucian) information system
Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produces analyses and summarizes results related to student enrollment, student learning and student success, including grant-funded initiatives
  • Serves as a primary resource to campus users to support data-based decision making
  • Triages data requests and assigns to appropriate Institutional Research staff through Tri-C’s ticketing portal (Fresh Service)
  • Validates accuracy of SQL queries against Banner data
  • Develops and disseminates recurring and ad hoc Institutional Research reports
  • Supports Data Governance and Data Literacy initiatives at the college, including maintaining an inventory of available reports
  • Requests transfer data from the National Student Clearinghouse; maintains database of transfer data for all previously enrolled students
  • Regularly assesses labor market needs for each region supported by the College’s campuses
  • Supports Senior Research Analyst in the preparation, distribution, and analysis of national and state-wide surveys including but not limited to CCSSE and Noel Levitz
  • Partners with departments institution-wide to develop survey instruments; recommends best-practices to improve survey quality and results; maintains calendar of regular surveys; may assist with analysis of surveys, as appropriate
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of Argos reports to expand the college’s business intelligence analytic environment
  • Serves as key team member in supporting College-wide business intelligence priorities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
