Job Description Responsibilities: Contribution to the development and implementation of agreed research methodology for crop estimation, export /Imports and demand of Made ups of textile industry. Regularly updating and maintaining databases / time series data and contribution to the development of the research methodology and strategy and continuously bring improvisation besides following the regular methodology Creating automation tools using macros, power pivot in MS Excel Power BI and Python coding, which can help in making the task of updating data, swift and efficient. To be able to calculate demand /consumption of agri commodities. To keep a tab on market and track latest developments in trade that influence and can affect the company’s business. Work with Commodity Platform and Research on Data Science & Analytics projects for Pakistan Assist in managing Pakistan Commodity Balance Sheet, and keeping trade strategy aligned with BS Conduct Real time Market Analysis - Awareness of current values trading and Relative competitiveness of various origins Supply & Demand Analysis – Keep abreast of latest trends in production, consumption, export and imports, including weather developments and its impact on production as well as impact on balance sheet. Continuous review of the methodology being applied in view of observations made during crop tours. Conduct crop tours across different regions of Pakistan. Collection and evaluation of primary and secondary data and performing sanity check on databases and external sources to ensure consistency of data. Estimate cotton areas by collecting data from official sources regularly Confirmation of area estimates through visual estimation of area changes Farmer interviews Gathering of information from third parties like research institutes, Seed industry, Agri departments etc. Highlight the risks to the crop estimate by working out various scenarios. Assessment of the impact of various scenarios on yields and associated probabilities such as weather, pests, diseases and changing costs or supply of inputs or labor etc Close monitoring of weather developments and long term forecasts to update production estimates. Analyze trends, evaluate behaviors etc. and make appropriate conclusions. Conducting detailed cost of production & Gross margins studies. Communication of the findings in the form of well-argued crop tour report. Qualifications Bachelors in Agronomy/ Maths & Economics/ Statistics 2 to 3 years’ experience with the right skill sets. Agri Commodities experience (Preferable) Additional Information Strong data Analytical & Problem-solving skills of big data sets. Working knowledge in Advance Excel & Power BI (Must have) SQL and basis knowledge of Python (coding, to be able to correct errors while running python report.
