This role is responsible for managing customer projects, overseeing non-routine testing, and supporting research and development (R&D) activities, all while reporting to the Product Manager. In addition, the position may occasionally assist with revenue-related tasks and represent the company in customer-facing situations. • Plan and conduct laboratory trial mixes and associated testing methods including mixing and sample preparation to meet quality and schedule deliverables
  • Record and interpret results from testing to allow a proper evaluation of test results – including concise and accurate reporting of findings & results to senior technical managers
  • Liaise with sales personnel, the Product Manager and customers to tailor testing programs to deliver value
  • Undertake R&D programs under the direction of the Product Manager
  • On occasion, conduct pilot trials and testing on customer sites
  • Provide leadership and active engagement in laboratory safety initiatives including Safety Toolbox meetings
  • Manage specialist laboratory testing procedures for cement and concrete customers and R&D activities
  • Develop test methods to cater for specific program deliverables
  • Provide supervision, training and development for laboratory technicians to build in-house capability
  • Build competency across test methods in laboratory scope to assist with signatory and audit requirements
  • If required, participate in the normal laboratory technician pool work programs
  • Work closely with the Laboratory Manager on planning and resourcing of external testing programs

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum (TAFE) laboratory qualification Cert IV or above
  • Undergraduate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or similar (preferable)

  • Ability to interpret test outcomes and recommend improvements – without supervision - required for ongoing testing
  • Ability to develop or amend test methods to cater for specific samples
  • High level knowledge of and experience in concrete mixing – good hands-on experience that allow mixes to be altered to improve performance
