Description

Open Instruments Pty Ltd designs and builds high-performance spectroscopy equipment for next-generation solar cells, including perovskite and tandem technologies. We are seeking a full-time R&D Manager (ANZSCO 132511) to lead projects, drive product development, and engage with international markets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in R&D project management for high-tech products in a commercial setting.
  • Proven track record in emerging photovoltaic technologies and/or spectroscopy, with publications in high-impact journals.
  • Expertise in advanced experimental and characterisation methods.
  • Strong communication skills in English, plus fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese preferred.
  • Experience in start-up environments and international collaboration is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement research strategies and technology roadmaps.
  • Lead major R&D projects and coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute technical expertise in spectroscopy equipment design, testing, and optimisation.
  • Apply advanced techniques (e.g. Photoluminescence Imaging, Photothermal Deflection Spectroscopy) in product development.
  • Conduct market research and support business development, especially in Asian markets.
  • Represent Open Instruments at conferences, industry events, and customer engagements.
