Department Overview:
The purpose of this position is to participate in the OHSU PREP program. PREP is a workforce training program aimed at broadening access to careers in biomedical research. Our program currently supports OHSU Research Assistants who are intent on earning their doctoral degree as part of their long-term career goals.
The primary aims of OHSU PREP are to:
OHSU PREP activities promote scientific identity formation and empower scholars to effectively navigate their career transitions.
PREP is a 12-month program that features a series of non-credit short courses, monthly seminars, and quarterly lectures on special topics. Short courses ("Growth Sessions") topics include: preparing and submitting graduate applications, mock interviews with postdocs and faculty, experimental design and statistical analysis, and scientific communication. PREP scholars also work closely with individuals in their mentor network, including their research mentor, a career mentor, and mentor buddy.

Typical basic science laboratory environment including use of chemical and biological reagents and possible exposure to rodents. May require evening or weekend work.
