JOB DESCRIPTION

Join our dynamic Discovery In Vitro Screening Team, focusing on the intersection of chemistry and biology. As a Research Assistant, you will work in a chemistry lab setting with a strong emphasis on biological theory, handling both animal and human biological samples. The goal is to analyze data and identify trends in biological studies.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related Life Science field with 2-3 years of experience, OR
  • Master’s degree with 0-1 years of experience.
  • Strong background in biology or chemistry, with industry or academic experience.
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, cloning or plasmid transfections, and qPCR techniques.
  • Experience with sterile techniques and working with various cell lines.
  • Familiarity with wet chemistry techniques and equipment such as Hamilton robotics, Mass Spec, LC-MS, UV vis Plate reader, and cell counters.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is set in a busy laboratory environment within the Metabolism In-Vitro team. The team closely collaborates with in-life sections, which forecast their work up to 6-8 weeks in advance. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on studies from beginning to end, unlike traditional labs where tasks are more segmented. The lab is fast-paced and ideal for individuals seeking to gain comprehensive experience in the field of drug development.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with biological samples such as plasma, blood, urine, and feces.
  • Perform cross-training in both biology and chemistry disciplines.
  • Maintain and grow mammalian cell lines for assay preparation.
  • Execute cell counting, sterile techniques, and seeding of cells onto assay plates.
  • Run extractions and various assays, including stability, protein binding, and enzyme inhibition.
  • Operate sophisticated equipment such as Mass Spec and LC-MS.
  • Conduct studies from start to finish, including sample preparation and analysis.
  • Manage a fast-paced work environment, alternating between data analysis and experimental testing.
