JOB SUMMARY

Performs, plans, and executes research studies. Develops and assesses new research techniques as well as manages resources. Ensures compliance with rules and regulations pertaining to the use of biohazardous materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.
OR
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years of experience in research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in research, basic science, or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

KNOWLEDGE

Extensive knowledge of laboratory procedures and protocols.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

SKILLS

Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work with lab animals.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:
RESEARCH PROTOCOLS: Perform animal studies: animal injections, tissue biopsies, and maintain animal strains. Perform a variety of genetic, genomic, and cell biological experiments. Assist trainees and other technicians with analysis and project data.
SUPPLIES: Order supplies and maintain equipment. Coordinate research activities and procedures of staff, graduate, and summer students. Maintain chemical and equipment inventory and research scientific literature regarding the current understanding of experimental paradigms.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
