Job Description:

The Carney Institute for Brain Science is home to the Brainstorm program that leverages the complementary strengths of academia and industry in the areas of computational neuroscience, computational psychiatry & neurology, and neurotechnology. Dr. Frederike Petzschner is the first Brainstorm Fellow and serves as the Director of the program. This position will support the research efforts of Dr. Frederike Petzschner’s lab. The successful candidate will:

  • be conducting large online (smartphone and web-based) and local EEG and/or behavioral experiments involving physiological measurements (e.g. ECG).
  • will support the development of smartphone-based applications to test human perception and learning in collaboration with software engineers.
  • will support the development of the new Brainstorm program at Carney (https://ccbs.carney.brown.edu/brainstorm). This includes administrative and scientific support of other fellows in the same program.

This is a full time, fixed-term position with an end date of April 1, 2025.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor in Physics, Mathematics, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Medicine, Computer Science or a related field of study, and 1-2 years of related research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • has experience with EEG data acquisition and data analysis (optional)
  • has a strong statistical and computational background (e.g. Bayesian Modeling) (optional)
  • has experience with large-scale online data acquisition (e.g. MTurk) (optional)
  • possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
