This position is required to assist Professor Veena Kumari with an externally funded research study entitled “Unusual but Filtered Minds? A Psychophysiology Study of Sensorimotor Gating in People with Transpersonal Experiences” that is funded by the Bial Foundation. The post-holder will work closely with the lead researcher and assist with the recruitment of participants (healthy people with and without psychotic-like transpersonal experience of mindfulness meditation), seeking consent, conducting psychophysiological and neuropsychological assessments, process, score and organise research data, and writing up of manuscripts for publication.
The successful applicant must have a post-gradute degree or equivalent qualification in cogntive neuroscience. Experience and knowledge in the field of experimental psychology and psychophysiology techniques (EMG in particular) is essential. They should be able to demonstrate the ability to recruit study participants for laboratory-based assessments of cogntive function, and to acquire and interpret research data. The post holder will have exellent IT literacy including Excel.
