The University of Cambridge is seeking an enthusiastic research assistant to join Dr Dami Collier’s group and Dr Nerea Irigoyen’s group in the Department of Pathology, working on cutting-edge science in Neuroscience and Virology. Work in the Collier lab focuses on understanding HIV-1 replication in the brain as a cause of brain injury, treatment escape and barrier to achieving HIV cure. The Irigoyen lab aims to understand how the Zika virus lineages induce neuropathogenesis and neurotropism to answer which cellular pathways drive virus-induced pathogenesis, how host responses differ between different lineages and how these differences are linked to viral genetics.
Candidates will be expected to hold a degree in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related discipline. We were looking for a candidate highly skilled in virology, stem cell culture, molecular biology and biochemistry. Prior experience working with confocal imaging, flow cytometry and CL3 containment lab is highly advantageous.
