Description SUMMARY This position will support the administrative and clinical functions of a clinical research department. Responsibilities include data entry, supply room management, patient recruitment, department marketing, equipment monitoring, and laboratory processing. DUTIES Performs a combination, but not necessarily all, of the following duties: Assists Clinical Research Coordinator in the conduct of clinical trials. Accepts shipments of study supplies and maintains organization of study supply room. Monitors department equipment and maintains documentation logs Performs phlebotomy and processes, packages, and ships labs. Performs data entry of clinical trial information as needed. Assists in the organization and storage of source documentation. Assists in patient recruitment with direct patient contact and by keeping providers informed of enrolling trials. Assists in developing marketing materials for research department and in developing website content. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION Work is performed under general supervision from the Principal Investigator and Department Manager of the research unit. (Investigator acts as consultant on any problems which arise). ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity. Manage data collection projects by meeting paper and electronic mailing deadlines, entering data, transcribing tapes and handwritten notes; learn and use technology to do these tasks more efficiently. Prepare print documents, web pages, and other graphics using Word and Excel. Produce written, tabular and visual materials for research reports and presentations. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Associate degree preferred. Experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education. Experience working in medical office, laboratory, or research center preferred. EQUIPMENT Must be familiar with scientific and medical equipment used in the particular field of laboratory, medical and clinical research. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in an office, laboratory, and/or clinic environment. This is a full-time position. Full-time is defined as 40 hours per work week. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Required abilities and dispositions: High personal motivation, self-management, and detail-orientation; ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision. Strong spoken and written communications skills. Capacity and will to learn new software, research methods, and work routines quickly; flexibility in responding to new research opportunities as they arise. Motivation to engage in and manage a wide range of intellectual and physical work, ranging from preparing mass mailings to analyzing proposed data-collection designs. Strong existing computer skills with Microsoft Office statistical software, and general Internet and electronic communications. Articulate and tactful communications skills; readiness to meet and work directly with clients.
