PBL has immediate openings for Research Assistants in the In Vivo Services Department. The In Vivo Research Assistant is an onsite position that works closely with the In Vivo Services Department in ensuring that Client/Sponsor testing needs are met. This position offers the employee an opportunity to both play a key role in the laboratory and learn the appropriate skills necessary to advance within the department. The position requires rotating weekend and holiday hours.
Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE In Vivo RESEARCH ASSISTANT INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Independently and in a group setting participate in study and animal preparation for testing
  • Following training, execute a variety of study specific endpoints including but not limited to performing clinical observations, dose administration, blood collection, and data collection
  • Preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Ensuring sufficient inventory of reagents, consumables and materials
  • Documentation of appropriate study records
  • Participation in vivarium maintenance projects
  • Participate in company-wide projects designed to improve the overall effectiveness of PBL, as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS OF THE In Vivo RESEARCH ASSISTANT

  • Four-year undergraduate degree (e.g., B.S. or comparable) in a science-related field (e.g., Biological Sciences, Animal Sciences, Pharmacology), or relevant experience in working with laboratory animals preferred
  • Applicants with a background or formal education in animal/veterinary science, including ALAT/LAT/LATG certification encouraged to apply
  • Willing to train ideal candidates, even with minimal experience
  • Must be flexible in work hours including weekends and holidays

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS OF THE In Vivo RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Technical Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills; able to prioritize diverse tasks
  • Experience in working with laboratory animals preferred
  • Ability to dose via IV and IP routes of administration highly desired
  • Basic scientific knowledge demonstrated by previous coursework, and/or prior work experience in a scientific/laboratory setting.
  • Must be accepting of being around and working with laboratory animals including but not limited to dosing (IP, IV, SQ, PO, etc.), euthanasia, necropsy, and health observation.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) required. Must be able to communicate complex issues in easily understandable terms.
  • Must have full use of hands, arms and legs with occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 30 lbs
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment with attention to detail and organization
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written direction

Working Conditions/Physical Abilities

  • All activities will be performed in a cGMP and GLP environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

The pay range for this position is $54,000 to $73,000 paid on hourly basis excluding overtime. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. This position will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and other benefits.
