ABOUT THE ROLE
The Ye lab invite applications from talented, highly motivated, and ambitious scientists for a Research Assistant position leading one or more projects examining changes in synapse biology associated with Parkinson’s disease and characterise proteostasis mechanisms to intervene in disease development.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
The project will unveil changes to proteomics and proteasome activities associated with the disease, and define how synaptoneurosomes are affected by pathological aggregate structures. This knowledge will allow better understanding of how pathological aggregates may alter the proteostasis mechanisms specific to the synapse and thereby re-define local protein landscape. You will use a multidisciplinary approach (protein biochemistry, advanced microscopy and various cell biology techniques) to identify the types of modifications and potential factors that are associated with the pathological synapse structures.
This role is part of the Department of Brain Sciences at Imperial College London, located in Sir Michael Uren Hub. As a Research Assistant in the Ye lab, you will:
