JOB DESCRIPTION:

The College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track position in Wildlife Disease Molecular Diagnostics at the level of Research Assistant Professor. The position entails 85% clinical effort, which includes clinical diagnostic activities in the molecular diagnostic services of the Zoological Medicine Diagnostic laboratory together with didactic and clinical instruction, 10% research effort, which can involve self-directed and/or collaborative research enterprises, and 5% service, which can be met by professional, departmental and university appointments. This is a time-limited position funded by the Zoo Med. Diagnostic Laboratory; continuation of this position is dependent on clinical diagnostic income in the laboratory.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum requirements include a PhD in wildlife diseases or a related discipline. The successful candidate must have experience in molecular diagnostic testing of nondomestic species with a focus on reptiles. Skills with test design and validation for molecular diagnostics of infectious diseases, including both PCR-based and next generation sequencing, as well as laboratory diagnostic sample database design and management are required.
