Department/ Unit: Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Closing Date: Until the post is filled The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, always “in search of excellence”, is working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Applicants should possess (i) a PhD degree and possess a solid academic background in one of the following three fields: computational biology/translational chemistry/molecular biology; (ii) preferably at least two years of postdoctoral research experience; (iii) a competitive publication record in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and demonstrated research achievements; (iv) strong ability to take responsibility for research projects, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative in problem-solving, with clear potential for rapidly developing into an independent Principal Investigator. Proven research experience with relevant experience in successful funding application are advantageous. The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) conducting, coordinating and supervising independent and/or collaborative research projects on drug discovery and modification/drug delivery system development/disease mechanisms; (b) actively pursuing external research grants; (c) supervising research students and staff; (d) administrative tasks related to research; and (e) performing other departmental tasks as assigned. Appointment(s) will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract) commencing as soon as possible, renewal subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
