About You
The Research Assistant will undertake research activities in the area of quantum sensing based on optically addressable solid-state spins. Specifically, the Research Assistant will work on a project in collaboration with two industry partners aiming to develop quantum radiofrequency-optical transducers leveraging the spin-optical properties of nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond. Activities may include theoretical analysis of the performance of the transducers, experimental realisation and evaluation of lab demonstrators and prototypes, optical and spin characterisation of diamond materials, RF and optical design, and programming of instrument control and user interface. It is expected that the Research Assistant will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop. • Evidence of research output in one of the above-mentioned areas of physics, including publications, conference contributions, and/or technical reports.
  • Evidence of strong analytical and programming skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required
  • Demonstrated high level of communication skills.
