Description
The Department of Surgery is seeking a Research Assistant to contribute to research projects centered on intelligent analysis and intervention for cardio-thoracic conditions, such as thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections (TAAD). Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Healthcare, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline; (ii) basic knowledge of the cardiovascular anatomy and related diseases, as well as a basic understanding of common medical imaging modalities (e.g., CT, CTA, X-ray); (iii) good programming skills and hands-on experience with developing machine learning systems; (iv) good communication, coordination and organisational skills with a strong sense of responsibility; and (v) fluency in both written and spoken English. The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) assisting in designing, developing, and optimising machine learning systems to improve workflows, streamline assessments, standardise reporting in TAAD diagnosis; (b) performing research administrative duties; and (c) performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to one year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
