Description

Job Req ID: 1973
Employee Category: Research
Department: EPD Pillar
Research Assistant/Associate on Powerless Wireless Power Transfer
The hired research assistant/associate will work on the design, development, implementation, and testing of RF/microwave components and sub-systems for wireless power transfer (WPT) in the Biomedical EM Lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design (http://www.biomed-em.org). The contract is 1 year (renewable).
Project Description
The project is to investigate the design possibilities of a compact, efficient, and wideband antenna/radiator suitable for wireless energy harvesting (WEH)/WPT. This exploration will span both conductive and magnetoelectric (ME) antennas. Our study will consider WIFI, power from base stations, and WPT as potential power sources.

Job Scopes:

  • Conduct literature review in relevant areas
  • Assist the designs and development of small antennas/radiators for WEH/WPT using commercial EM software
  • Test and characterization of RF/microwave circuit components
  • Facilitate antenna/radiator fabrications and testing
  • Collect data
  • Documentations (reports, potentially conference papers and journal papers)

Your profile

We are looking for a researcher with the following expertise and skills,

  • Knowledge on microwave engineering, especially antenna theories and transmission line theories
  • EM simulation software (e.g., CST)
  • Testing and characterization of RF/microwave devices or components
  • Research or design experience on WEH/WPT and/or antenna designs (preferred)
  • Python/Matlab coding
  • Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • A good team player

For the research associate, a mater degree is required.
