Job Summary
This research and facilitation position provides general administrative, financial, and research support for clinical trials and other investigator-initiated studies conducted within the Division of Gastroenterology at BC Children’s Hospital, with a focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Responsibilities include supporting the overall operations of the research program, coordinating research projects, and contributing to scholarly activities such as literature reviews, manuscript development, and data management.
Organizational Status
The successful candidate will report directly to Dr. Kevan Jacobson, members of the research group, and the division Research Coordinator. They will work in a strongly collaborative and collegial fashion with cross-functional project team members to meet program goals and objectives. This position will be in person at the Division of Gastroenterology, BC Children’s Hospital, with limited opportunities for remote work.
Major responsibilities:
It is expected that the candidate will require additional training for some aspects of the work (such as ethics preparation) and appropriate training will be provided as needed.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The successful candidate should carefully report all experimental results for analysis by the principal investigator. All works are subject for review by Dr. Kevan Jacobson and colleagues. Incorrect analysis would negatively affect the study and the reputation of the research group. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality, diplomacy, tact and accuracy.
Supervision Received
This position will report directly to Dr. Kevan Jacobson and colleagues, and will work in a strongly collaborative and collegial fashion with cross-functional project team members to meet program goals and objectives. The research coordinator will work independently in performing defined duties from broad objectives and will alert the principal investigators to any unusual situations and problems as they arise or are anticipated. The principal investigators and a senior research coordinator will provide extensive training and ongoing consultation to support this position as needed.
Supervision Given
The individual will oversee the work of two or more research staff including research assistants, students and volunteers.
