Job Summary The Research Projects & Academic Outreach Department (RP&AO) at the Getty Research Institute is seeking 10-hour-per-week research assistant who will contribute to the Samella Lewis research project by facilitating research and publication. The ideal candidate will be a graduate student with experience in art history, African American/Black studies, or visual culture, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, project management experience, facility with research- and office-related technologies, and diverse research experience. Major Job Responsibilities Contributes to the conceptual development of research projects by organizing/creating documentation of research materials such as bibliographies; searching for and ordering texts; writing literature reviews, etc. Conducts research on libraries, collections, and art institutions related to Samella Lewis Requests images for publication; researches and obtains art and image permissions Gathers, processes, and manages deadlines in management spreadsheets Proofreads and edits, as needed Assists with the creation of project websites and PowerPoint presentations Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in art history or related field; familiarity with African American art history; Master’s degree or some graduate work preferred 0-2 years research experience (education may be considered) Strong skills in gathering, manipulating, evaluating, and presenting qualitative and quantitative data Please note: This position is not eligible for employer-based immigration sponsorship.
