JOB SUMMARY

The Research Assistant/Associate is responsible for assigned activities in the research laboratory with limited supervision from the Laboratory Supervisor or Principal Investigator (P.I.). The position is responsible for performing high level laboratory procedures relating to the laboratory’s ongoing program and completing documentation of experimental data in a timely fashion. Assists with monitoring inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies. This position will conduct research related to hemostasis, thrombosis, and inflation. The Research Assistant/Associate role will be filled according to the education, technical skills, direct relevant research experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate. Refer to Required Education and Experience. This position may require work beyond normal working hours, including weekends.

CLINICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities
  • Conducts experiments, collects, and analyzes data · Oversees the maintenance of lab supplies, equipment, and inventory control.
  • Maintains lab notebooks and records, supplies, and samples in a well-organized and accurate manner.
  • Participates in biosafety and biomedical research-related training and maintains compliance with all safety training and requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison to other departmental personnel, outside investigators, and vendors.
  • Acts as a leader for lab programs and staff in assigned areas.
  • Activities include performing all necessary biochemical, molecular, and cell biology techniques to conduct the research.
  • Responsible for laboratory activities to isolate and culture the cells under sterile conditions.
  • Responsible for handling small laboratory animals and performing various research procedures, including genotypic, blood collection, tail-vein and other injections, and surgical procedures.
  • Responsible for performing research work semi-independently with guidance from the mentor after the initial training (no formal training, learned during performing the job functions).
  • Other duties as assigned.
