Job title: Research assistant (under the UAEU-EduHK grant of Dr. Alexandra Marquis-UAEU and Dr. Kevin Yuen Chi Pun-EduHK: “Identifying abnormal hemispheric laterality via a low-pass filtered attention dichotic listening test: A cross-language investigation for Arabic and Cantonese children”) Job description: The Department of Speech Language Pathology, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a two year full-time research assistant position with a specialization in Linguistics, Psychology, and/or Neuroscience. The post is available from August 2025 and is expected to be filled as soon as possible. We are seeking an energetic candidate who will be assisting a faculty member and her team conducting a research project that aims at identifying hemispheric laterality using a dichotic listening test. Tasks will include, but not be restricted to, on campus and/or in local elementary schools activities stimuli list construction, database analyses, phonetic transcriptions, reading and writing summaries of scientific articles, programming experiments, preparing auditory stimuli, preparing consent forms and questionnaires, testing human participants, conducting statistical analyses. Duties will involve interacting with school personnel, teachers, parents and children. Thus, the ideal candidate must have a genuine interest to interact with young children.
Minimum Qualification
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor degree or higher in Linguistics, Psychology and/or Neuroscience and has knowledge and experience in : a) Arabic phonetics and phonology, psycholinguistics, etc. b) building, programming and conducting psycholinguistic experiments c) using computer softwares such as PRAAT, PsychoPy, SPSS, R, etc. d) conducting experiments in Arabic and Emirati Arabic

The ideal candidate will have critical thinking, be able to work well independently and in a team, must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure, and must have excellent English and Arabic reading and writing skills.
