POSITION SUMMARY

The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. David Collister on various studies. The candidate must be able to recruit study participants and complete follow-up including the administration of questionnaires, which will require them to interact with patients, University, and Alberta Health Services staff. The candidate will conduct chart reviews to gather study data. The candidate must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills to assist with a wide range of clinical research activities.
This position primarily takes place in the North Campus- University of Alberta Hospital dialysis unit and Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic but will require travel to other dialysis units located at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, West Edmonton Kidney Care and Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education of a Bachelor’ s degree in relevant field
  • Experience with patient interaction and administration of questionnaires, dealing with patients, responding to study-related questions
  • Intermediate level competency with MS Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, timelines and a flexible work schedule
  • Ability to work efficiently and in a professional and ethical manner
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others on a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in data management
  • Familiar with retrieving patient information from patient charts

Responsibilities
  • Reviews and adheres to multiple research protocols
  • Assists with the recruitment and follow-up of study participants, including the completion of screening, consent, and case report forms
  • Organizes hardcopy and computer files related to ongoing studies
  • Records, accesses and transfers data from medical records to electronic database
  • Assist systematic reviews by screening and extracting data from research articles
  • Provides administrative support for presentations, publications, and reports
  • With the assistance of PI and other research personnel, edits and updates ethics applications for the Health Research Ethics Board
