POSITION SUMMARY

Within the R&I Department, the clinical translational research platform focuses on four key priority research areas: i) Neurorehabilitation and Recovery, ii) Assistive & Adaptive Technology, iii) Cognitive & Developmental Neuroscience and iv) Precision Rehabilitation. This position has a strong initial area of focus related to neurorehabilitation and recovery through Neuromodulation in Rehabilitation. The candidates will work under the direct supervision of the Scientific Program Lead to bring the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital to the forefront of using neuromodulation to enhance or suppress activity of the nervous system for the treatment of disease and improve people’s lives. The candidates may also support broader priority initiatives across the hospital as identified by the Scientific Program Lead and aligned with the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital R&I strategic plan and the mission of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital and Glenrose Hospital Foundation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary education of a Bachelor’s degree in a health or science-related field
• Experience with patient interaction and administration of questionnaires, dealing with patients, responding to study-related questions
• Experience in data management
• Intermediate level competency with MS Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe
• Excellent organizational, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, timelines and a flexible work schedule
• Ability to work efficiently and in a professional and ethical manner
• Ability to work independently as well as with others on a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience leading rehabilitation sessions with individuals post-stroke and spinal cord injury
• Experience delivering transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation, leading neurophysiology experiments, and data analysis with Signal software
• Experience leading systematic literature reviews
• Past experience working in a clinical setting, and specifically the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital

• Reviews and adheres to multiple research protocols
• Assists with the recruitment of study subjects, including the completion of screening, consent, case report forms, and safety reports
• Organizes hardcopy and computer files related to ongoing studies
• Lab management related to SOPs, equipment/supply ordering
• Records, accesses and transfers data from medical records to electronic databases (if applicable)
• Assist systematic reviews by screening and extracting data from research articles. If interested, can contribute to scientific writing.
• Provides administrative support for grant applications, presentations, publications, reports and other program-based initiatives
• With the assistance of PI and other research personnel, edits and updates ethics applications for the Health Research Ethics Board pertaining to submissions, amendments
• Responsible for overall trial activities, including delivery of interventions such as rehabilitation, and collection of data (neurophysiology data, patient reported outcomes)
• Data analysis and dissemination (with support of the Scientific Program Lead)
• Supports project coordination with research personnel
