POSITION SUMMARY

TREC is a complex research program in the Faculty of Nursing of the University of Alberta. We currently hold over $8 million in active grants totalling from national and provincial granting agencies and the Government of Alberta. Our team comprises a variety of staff, Postdoctoral Fellows, Research Associates, Research Assistants and trainees. We also work closely with investigators and collaborators across Canada and around the world. Decision makers at the senior regional health level and in provincial government are also members of our team.
We are looking for a passionate Research Assistant who is resourceful to support our on-going research projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Nursing, Health Sciences or Public Health
  • Research experience in long-term care or health research is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and to multi-task while remaining organized
  • Demonstrated excellent inter-personal skills
  • Demonstrated superior written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with the Long-term care sector is an asset
  • Experience with research activities is an asset

Responsibilities
  • Takes notes and minutes for meetings; distills the action-items
  • Interacts and communicates with stakeholders, investigators and team members on a regular basis and drafts reports and briefings for different stakeholder groups
  • Assists in the writing (with supervision) of reports
  • Helps to monitor and assess project status on an ongoing basis to ensure project objectives are met
  • Assists under supervision in the collection and analysis of data
  • Supports the data management with tracking, cleaning and structuring the data in preparation for analysis.
  • Supports team members in training of data management
  • Supports research and implementation teams during workshops
  • Supports team members in coordinating field travel logistics and planning
  • Supports team members with their communication and contacts with sites and receipt and dissemination of study and project materials.
  • Arranges meetings, sends invitations and participations in regular group meetings/calls for various projects
  • Coordinates correspondence with partners and stakeholders
  • Supports team members in research
  • Photo-copying, printing, and other administrative tasks
